still BFN, but better today

Today is 8dp5dt and I still got a negative. However, I am doing better. I have not given up quite yet. I know that there is a strong possibility that I am not pregnant there is still hope. My previous pregnancy was after an FET that included assisted hatching. While searching the web today I read that the first 3 days after a transfer the embryo is hatching. This got me thinking and this clinic did not use AH. When AH is done implantation occurs earlier so that is probably why I got such an early BFP last time. Even if I am pregnant now all of the charts state that most women do not get a BFP before 9dp5dt. So I feel like there is still a bit of hope left. And I will hold onto any shred of hope that I can find.

I an trying to move my beta up to tomorrow and will update once I get the results. So pray, pray, pray!!!

  1. They don't use assisted hatching???? I thought that was pretty much a given these days. Did they offer you the option?
    Still praying for your BFP!!!

  2. My last clinic did it standard and I remember it being stated to me that it was being done. This time I never thought to ask and never was told that it was being done and the RE went over everything in quite a bit of detail. I just searched their site and for a single IVF is states that ICSI & assisted hatching were an additional charge. So I am assuming that it was not done or I would have paid for it. But if I were you I would definitely ask about it before your cycle.

  3. The embryologist at the NEDC says that she never does assisted hatching on blastocysts because it is too risky for them. She only does AH on 3 day embryos.

  4. Prayers prayers prayers! Everybody and every pregnancy is different... there's still hope!

Jennifer- She didn't do AH on our 2PN embies that were allowed to mature to 3 days before transfer. I wonder if they might only do it if it was done when the bio parents had AH with their transfers n 3 day embryos?

  5. Malia-I'm not sure. Things could have changed since I used them in 2010. I thought she did AH on all 3 day embryos, but I could be wrong. I transferred blastocysts for all of my FETs, and I just know she didn't do AH on blasts (at least back then).

  6. i agree with the comments above, AH is done on day 3 embryos, not blasts. I would never have seen a positive at 8dp5dt, only ever saw a very faint one at 9dp5dt, I'm a low beta person! Still holding on t hope for you. Love, Fran

  7. I'll keep praying!

All four of my transfers were blast transfers, and the only embryo they didn't do assisted hatching on was the one that had already hatched. It's standard at my clinic to do AH with all FETs because the shell on frozen embryos is often harder than on fresh embryos, at least that's what I was told. Not that frozen embies can't hatch on their own (obviously), but my embryologist wanted to give all the embryos as much help as possible.

  8. I dont remember if our embryologist did AH or not? I go to the NEDC for our mock on Wednesday so I will definitely be asking about the process. Thinking of you Jess!
