ouch! that one stung a little

I am 35 and have been married 14 years. My hubby and I have worked with youth our entire married life. During this time we have seen teens grow up, get married and start families. Some have had 4-5 kids, one just had number six!! This teens was an older teen so it was not too bad. But now, the younger teens are having their 2nd and 3rd babies. This week a young woman that was 11 years old when we got married just announced baby number 2 is on the way. For some reason this one really hurt. To add insult to injury she posted a pic of herself and two other barely 20 year olds showing off their baby bumps. It made me feel so...old. Is 35 old now?? The 20 year old kid that just called me ma'am sure thinks so. Pimply faced geek.

Now don't get me wrong, I wouldn't wish infertility on anyone. Okay, that's not entirely true. Crack whores should be infertile. Pedophiles and child abusers should be too. Democrats too. I kid! I kid!!! But I truly do not wish for them to be infertile. But do they all have to be so gosh darn fertile?

While it stings to watch other people move forward so effortlessly, I am ready to dust out the cobwebs in my uterus and try again. Hope they don't find any spiders in there!

  1. I am nearing 35 also. Trying for my second kid also. My DHs little sister just miscarried (< wks, not TTCing). This would have been her 5th child. Miscarriage is always painful, even if it was an "oops" pregnancy, and I wouldn't wish that on anyone either. But I finds self thinking the same things. Am I old already? And why do they have to be so darn fertile?
All that to say: I feel ya!!!

  2. Yep, so frustrating. Feels so unfair. I am not 37 (holy crap that's old) and my boys (via egg donor) are only 10 months old. I wonder how many 20 something moms I will be forced to hang out with because of my bad eggs. So annoying!

  3. I hear ya! My friend from high school made her mom a grandma at the age of 33. That is just mind boggling to me. So frustrating that we can't even have one! :(

  4. I hear you although i am a 28 yr old we have been married for 10 years. But all my friends are on #3 and 4. We were blessed to adopt our daughter when I was 23. Now she wants a sibling so bad. We pray through EA we can make that happen, since after 2 years we have not been succesful going the domestic adoption route again. Praying this cycle works out for you.

  6. Your comment about Democrats made me laugh... hehehe. But yes, I know it's painful. I'm 29 and I've only been married for 5 years, but most people my age who are trying for kids already have 2 or 3.

But God has a reason. You may not ever understand it while on earth. Just rest assured knowing that His plan is far better than anything you could dream :)

  7. You are still at a great age.You are not too old.I know we all feel that way at times when others are having children at an earlier age. Just us infertiles it takes time.Time to find what path we are going to take, finances etc. This EA path is by far the best route for us that I have come across.Yet it is barely talked about by the Dr's ,individuals etc.-why because I think they want all of us to do the big procedures.I do not believe that all need to be on this path.I have received my best info and encouragement on this subject on these blog sites.God bless all of you that have been involved in the EA process.l know not everything is a guarantee and it's like putting all your eggs in one basket. No pun intended there. You pray and hope and maybe just maybe your dream can come true. I hope and pray that all of your dreams come true.We had a transfer in Oct 12. Transferred two embryos.Decent quality. We were obviously hoping for one at least and now blessed with twins due this July.Who knew that both would make it? The big man upstairs had a big hand in this.My Dr. told me "God wouldn't give you more than you can handle."BTW I almost felt like rolling off the table when he told me congrats "it's twins." I did shed a tear and was thankful for the gift that I have received. Our embryos were anonymous but I will never forget this wonderful couple that gave us this wonderful gift and chance. I also thank the clinic that we went to that was out of state.I would have been waiting quite a while here in my state if it weren't for them.Blessings to you all.

  8. i am going through this now. a 16 year old girl that DH taught in sunday school just gave birth. DH (having good intentions) offered to do some pics for her but i told him i was absolutely not going to help with this photo shoot and i was not going to look at any of the pics afterwards. she dropped out of high school and she got pregnant by her boyfriend of less than a year. really unfair! >=(
